Wetland Talk Story

Calling all Kūpuna, Kula Kai Ohana, and “Citizen Scientists”: We need your help! And we are seeking input from the public to help identify and characterize possible wetlands. If you or a family member has knowledge of any wetlands, past or present, please send us an email. We would love to hear your manaʻo. Our study is community-based, and our best insights come from people in the community. Many Kūpuna remember when Kīhei had far more wetlands. They may have called them “swamps”, or mud patches or lagoons back then, but this is the kind of information that really helps us to put the entire story together. We would also appreciate any old photos or stories you may have about “the wetlands of Kula-Kai” (Kīhei).
