SAVING WETLANDS

Our Maui wetlands are rapidly disappearing, so we need to take action to prevent our last wetlands from destruction. Our Maui wetlands are vital for habitat, flood mitigation, and protection against the adverse effects of climate change. Our Save the Wetlands Hui has a simple mission, to bring the community together to help identify, conserve, protect, and restore, Maui’s remaining wetlands, and to educate the public about the critically important role that wetlands play in the ecosystem. Our first phase project focused on the Kēōkea-Waiohuli corridor of Kula Kai (roughly the area known as middle Kīhei). Phase two, has expanded the study area to all of South Maui, and the next phases will include all parts of Maui County.
